A CAPtivating story

Since 1980, the management of Clean Air Products of Michigan (CAP) has been involved in one way or another with environmental projects.

The primary environmental areas of concern are wastewater treatment, both municipal and industrial, and agricultural, both waste stream and odor control. In all of these markets, controlling odor by biologically eliminating the source of the odor is the objective. Once the environment has been improved, the health of those once exposed to hazardous conditions is no longer at as great a risk.

CAP is not alone in its interest in eliminating the negative effects of odors -- especially ammonia odors. Each industry segment listed above has been actively seeking a solution to odor problems.

The public is generally aware of work being done to clean up after oil spills, and work being done to clean up abandoned industrial sites. Not as well known is the effort to clean up the industrial work atmosphere for the purpose of making the work place safer and healthier.

The effort to improve the working environment in agricultural and food processing industries is as intense as the effort to clean up industrial and municipal waste. Agricultural groups are also working to improve the general welfare of all animals, both those raised for food and those raised to produce food. The agricultural groups realize that there are measurable advantages in having a clean and odor-free environment from the standpoints of health and profit.
